“The East Asian Region”. It integrates the
member associations’ research activities that specialize in one or two
countries or regions into the <Inter university consortium for East Asian Studies> and establishes
a Research Committe and a Comparitive Research Team in order to adjust and
compare the research of the resepective countries and regions.
This joint research, which is composed of 3 teams, political economy,
economy, and society and culture, seeks the collaboration not only among area
studies but also social science and humanities. Therefore, it attempts a
cooperative research among politics, economics, sociology, and anthropology
etc. within one country or one region, and at the same time, seeks a
inter-disciplinary research strategy that links each country and each region.
This joint research is composed of 2-year research program as follows:
The first year : development and crisis of East Asia
– analyzing the accomplished development and the crisis
of East Asia in the late 20th century from a

The second year : response and choice of East Asia
– evaluating the validity of East Asian countries’
strategies and alternative policies to overcome the economic crisis
Also this joint research is planned and promoted with a
talent-training and
